Special Projects

Several times each year, Webster Hope conducts special projects to supplement our general work of supporting those in need across the Webster community. They are special collections and distributions for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, along with collecting and providing supplies children need for the new school year.

Thanksgiving

In collaboration with Webster Community Chest, Webster Hope holds a Thanksgiving food collection drive, and manages the distribution at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Road, Webster. Qualified families register during October, and distribution takes place about a week before Thanksgiving Day.

In 2025, the program will serve about 275 families, a record number.

Christmas

Webster Hope’s annual Christmas Project helps to make spirits bright for needy families across Webster. Registration takes place in October. Hope volunteers meet with potential families about eligibility, explain to them how the program works, and compiling their family wishlist. Children 12 and younger get toys valued at up to $50, while teens ages 13 to 18 (if still in high school) get gift cards. The families also get a gift card, often from Aldi or Walmart, to buy food for a holiday meal. Eligible families without children can still qualify for the meal gift card.

Back to School

Each year as back-to-school time approaches, Webster Hope collects new supplies such as crayons, pens, folders and backpacks. Then, one night in mid-August, families can come “shop” the collected goods based on what teachers want each student to bring on the first day of school. Another highlight of the night: free ice cream after the shopping is finished. In 2025, the Webster Health and Education Network (WHEN) and Webster Library also too part, distributing WHEN swag and books.
